Analyse This!
Data processing today, whether using off-the-shelf products,
or bespoke systems applications, is a whole lot more flexible
than it used to be. Application authors know that you want
your output to be presentable in a variety of standard formats,
and they're providing the means for export, analysis and reporting
in some very impressive ways. Whatever your company has invested
in (and let's face it, this software you use couldn't be called
cheap!), the likelihood is that it does the job you want it
to do, otherwise you wouldn't have bought it, right?
On occasions, though, you might be inspired with a concept
that is simply not catered for, or anticipated, by the software
makers. You have a whole load of data, and within that whole
load of data is the information that would make a difference
to your business processes, and thus, to the final result
of all this computing activity. TechScope will
be happy to discuss such a concept with you to see if there
is a sensible way forward. There will be a need, within such
discussions, to concentrate on, and refine, the target ideal,
and weigh up the resources and assets at your disposal. The
overall project aim is to address the logic required to use
these resources to achieve the desired effect ~ TechScope's
input involves a combination of skill, experience and imagination
in order to make manifest the specifications established by
the initial problem analysis. Any such project will be formally
scoped, scheduled and documented, and may include a service
contract for periodic technical support and software updates,
subject to requirements and negotiation.
Automation Incorporated
It may also be that your business IT could benefit from procedural
programming, along the lines of automation, to increase efficiency
in routine practices. This may or may not include some level
of pure data processing. For example, you may have been using
standard MS Office documents as masters for a set of routines
relating to everyday business documentation. These procedures
might, ideally, benefit from some level of intelligent automation
built into these master documents, and include not only more
sophistication, but also greater ease of use, in the form
of integrated help for your operators. The macro programming
potential within MS Office holds the key to this new, improved
scenario. TechScope can help you define and
implement useful macros for your business, and get your computers
to do more of the donkey work, whilst the output and creativity
of your staff noticeably increases.
About Branding
and Intellectual Rights
Whether you ask TechScope to produce a stand-alone
custom utility, or a component of work for software integration,
you will be offered the chance to make it your own by incorporating
your business identity into the final product. Integrated
products (such as macro development or email archive scripting),
because of their nature, include source code as standard,
which becomes your property as part of the deal, and as such,
will be copyrightable by you, subject to legal scrutiny. Stand-alone
products may be available as a source package, depending
on the nature of the work they do and the specific tasks they
are designed to carry out. This would be a matter of negotiation
from the outset of any contract of work; however, although
TechScope will apply fair discretion, we reserve
the right not to include source as open for negotiation.
This is because it is feasible that core functionality could
be applied elsewhere in other deals of a similar nature. It
really depends on the details of the specifics and
the degree of special business areas as they relate to the
software.
